Anouk Griffioen

These amazing big drawing by Anouk Griffioen are breathtaking. The emotions she brings with the characters she draws are just so powerful, they pull you into the drawings. And the power of working in black and white makes her work even more special. It really makes the expressions pop out even more.

Here some information about Anouk Griffioen from her own website:
Anouk Griffioen (1979) prefers to draw at big pieces of paper or canvas and she draws with expression. In thick black lines and smudges and leaving white spaces, she exposes a woman, an emotion: fear, frustration, pain, loneliness, but overall emptiness, passiveness, maybe shame. But no cry for help or comfort. These 'glamorous' women seem to face into the background, left alone in their own world.
